Hinatea Fontenau

Head of Station Projects

Transport for Wales

Hinatea Fonteneau is Head of Station Projects for Transport for Wales (TfW) and oversees a £10m-per-annum portfolio of works across the whole of TfW 248 existing stations. Her portfolio focuses mainly on station refurbishments and new assets, to improve our colleagues and customers’ experiences and to meet Welsh Government’s targets in terms of active travel, sustainability, community, security, and accessibility.

Hinatea and her team have developed and maintain a Station Toolkit, an essential document ensuring TfW brand and standards are applied consistently across the network, irrespective of the teams delivering the works. This toolkit is evolving continuously through a thorough consultation process, including the landlords and all the subject matter experts within the organisation.

The Station Projects team has the particularity to work with two landlords: Network Rail and TfW itself, through the managing agent Amey Infrastructure Wales following the devolution of the Core Valley Line’s network to Welsh Government.
